Hey, There! :)

If you have a friend who you haven't seen in two years, a friend you never talk to, a friend you miss, I officially declare Friday, March 11 TALK TO YOUR LOST FRIEND DAY! So call the old friend you've known since 2nd grade but never talk to. E-mail that friend that you miss. (Since you never deleted their number from your phone or their e-mail from your contact list; you obviously still miss them!) Invite them over for tea, go see a movie.... whatever! If you miss playing with your Barbies and Beanie Babies, have fun with that! If you want to go on a double date, that's fun, too! Whatever. Enjoy TALK TO YOUR LOST FRIEND DAY!
Love,

Used Books Have Character--That makes 'em better!

I don't know about you, but personally I despise commercial bookstores. That's not really the right term to use, but that's OK. (I think I got my point across for that first part.) I love to read, though I may have forgotten to add that to my Bio on my profile. I LOVE to read. My house is filled with books that I lost or scattered about. And my room has piles of books just lying around. I've even read most of those books, so it's all good. But when I'm going shopping for NEW books, I prefer local/new-and-used bookstores that are filled with rows and rows of people's discarded books! I hate going to places like Barnes & Noble and Borders for my books. They're much too bright and are filled with overly helpful salespeople. I HATE IT. Plus, all of the books are BRAND NEW and everything is labeled TOO CLEARLY. I prefer to not know exactly where the book I'm looking for is, just the general area, thank you VERY MUCH. Because if I don't know EXACTLY where I'm going, I can come across new books I've neither heard of nor read. And the pages on used books are always softer! Ok. I'll be quiet now. :)
Love,

"The Silver Mask"

Today I decided to retitle my blog "The Silver Mask" because of the silver mask on the heading. Unfortunately, this blog address was already taken, so while the Japanese on the title may read "The Silver Mask", the blog address is thesilvermasquerade.blogspot.com. But,  whatever. Leave a comment and let me know what you think of the new blog title!
Love,

P.S. I'm so proud of myself! The Silver Mask on the heading is ©2011 Frances Elizabeth 'cause I took and edited that photo MYSELF so hah!

Would You Rather?

You have probably all played Would You Rather? at some point in your life. Whether it was with your carpool on the way to work or school, the lunch line in the cafeteria, or the climb up to the peak of Everest, it was always entertaining. You and your friends would come up with weird things to say like, "Would You Rather eat a live raccoon or get murdered by a porcupine?" or gross things like, "Would You Rather eat Play-Doh or that slimy stuff that you can buy for 99¢ at Halloween time from Walgreens?" And at some point you'd both start laughing too hard! I miss those times.

I Love Strange Colored Nail Polish

Once upon a time, people liked to use Red Nail Polish, or Pink Nail Polish. (Nail polish is a real strange word. Ever noticed that?) But people no longer use boring colors like those. Now many people (me included!) prefer to use colors like Green Nail Polish and Blue Nail Polish. Is anyone else a fan of Black Nail Polish? What's YOUR favorite color of nail polish? Leave a comment and let me know! XD
Love,

P.S. The photo of all the nail polish is from http://www.watchmojo.com/blogs/images/nail_polish.jpg!

Steampunk Zombies. What could be better?

A few weeks ago I became extremely interested in steampunk. For those of you who don't know what that is, "Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fictionalternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s.[1] Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian eraBritain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned them; in other words, based on a Victorian perspective on fashionculture, architectural styleart, etc. This technology may include such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne or real technologies like the computer but developed earlier in an alternate history." to quote this article from Wikipedia, the all knowing website. But back to the book! Boneshaker, sci-fi novel by Cherie Priest, is a thrilling, stay-up-until-2:00-AM book. It is set in Seattle (I can't remember what year), which has been contaminated by Blight gas. But I'm getting WAY ahead of myself. This post probably isn't even making any sense.... Oh, well. You'll just have to keep up, I suppose! Some inventor guy, Leviticus Blue (I think that's his name) makes this big drill machine (called Dr. Blue's Incredible Bone-shaking Drill Machine, or 'The Boneshaker' for short) for a Russian contest for a drill powerful to cut through the ice in Alaska or something to get the gold buried there. I think that's how it happened. I got the book from the library, so, to my sadness, I don't own a copy. This is why the details in this post are so hazy. And he decides to test it randomly and releases all this Blight gas and if you breathe in this gas you turn into a zombie (referred to in the novel as 'rotters'). And then all this stuff happens. It's hard to explain without ruining the entire story, so you should just go read the book! It's a five star novel. And it's about steampunk zombies. What could be better?
Love,

P.S. I got this picture of the Boneshaker cover from http://science-fiction-books.com.au/media/ccp0/prodlg/Boneshaker-Cherie-Priest-Paperback16-med.jpg
P.P.S. Sorry this post is so long. But I had a lot to say. :D

I Want A Typewriter

This isn't the broken one I found.
It works. But it's not for sale! :(
The other day I was browsing the antique stores with a friend of mine and we came across a broken typewriter. (And by broken I mean it only sort of worked and didn't have a ribbon!) We took turns trying to type on it. It was then that my thirst for a typewriter was born. I so desperately wanted one! I read pages and pages of eBay searches trying to find the perfect one. But alas, one was not to be found. That's okay, though. I'll get one eventually! (Watch out, antique stores! Here I come!)
Love,

Welcome, welcome, welcome!

Hello, everyone! Welcome to my blog! I'd start with introductions, as in, "Hi. I'm Frances. That's so NOT obvious because it says it in the sidebar under 'About Me'! I like the color blue. My favorite number is two... Blah, blah, blah." But I figure.... that's boring! I'd rather talk about the blog.... and YOU! Every week I'll be posting a new poll on the sidebar for you answer truthfully. They'll be odd, and completely random! Oh, and I'll be posting probably once or twice a week on no set day so you better come check back EVERYDAY! And please leave me comments.... I want to know what you think of the blog! I also hope to be starting an online 'novel'--basically where I start posting some random story and whenever I feel an inspirational idea I go and add to it. You know. Fun stuff like that. And don't forget: links to my favorite online games, websites, blogs, forums, articles, and more! Well I've gotta go edit the blog some more so I'll stop right here. But before I leave I'd like to thank http://farm1.static.flickr.com/49/133274470_83c3c66397.jpg for the image of the Lego lucky cat and Blogger.com for hosting this fabulous blog!
